We have been working on Discipline in class and in our lives this cycle. One of the best disciplines that I have been practicing for years now is to say things out loud. When I have something positive to say about someone else, even if I am afraid that I won't say it perfectly, it is important for me to say it out loud. I can't tell you how many times this practice has paid off in my life. So many times I will feel the need to notice something special about someone, and when I say my observation out loud, they light up like a Christmas Tree.
So many people are working without recognition of their efforts, making modest gains in areas that matter to them. When we take a moment to notice the hard work of another, we are showing that we care and that we would be a good person to have in the community. Since we will pass this way but once, why not say whatever good we can about each other? Sometimes, we may put our foot in our mouth for a moment, but other times, we might make a friend for life.
